With the rise of technology use and the prolific integration of internet and web technologies in everyday life, social communication has been enabled to instantaneously broadcast messages with global visibility of media (text, pictures, videos, blogs, tweets, etc.). The practical use and management of social media by individuals, businesses, and organizations is fundamental to their success as well as how well they can craft their online identity.
The purpose of this course is to introduce the fundamental components of social media as a communications channel. The course provides in depth examples and presents relevant issues from different perspectives including politics, education, strategic communications, legal and ethical.
